While most home coffee makers are made almost entirely of plastic, the MT500 comes with a stainless steel pot and an exterior mostly made from aluminum! The Capresso MT500 Pot
The pot is by far one of the most important features of the Capresso MT 500 Plus and any other coffee maker for that matter! It features a stainless pot that is insulated and can keep your coffee hot for four hours! An insulated pot is a very important feature, because coffee can be very temperature sensitive once it’s been brewed!
Brewers that keep coffee hot by placing it on a burner can give it a burnt taste in just fifteen minutes. The coffee in an insulated pot will remain palatable as long as it is hot!
The other cool feature of the MT500 pot, is the limited amount of air contact it allows during the brewing process!
The lid design on the Capresso MT 500 enables it to brew through even while it is closed, thus keeping contact with the air to a bare minimum.
This has two benefits. The first is kind obvious, brewing through the lid will keep your coffee hotter!

The less obvious one is that it can actually make your coffee taste better! The taste of your coffee suffers heavily from long exposure to air, because it gets oxidized! It’s a bit like leaving food in the fridge or freezer too long!
There is also no glass liner in the pot as in the cheaper air pot coffee makers, this results in a much sturdier pot that you can even drop on the hardwood floor once in a while without worrying about it breaking!
The Capresso MT500 Coffee maker
The MT 500 uses a specially designed, cone shaped filter, which is the best method for extraction in drip coffee makers of a size this large. The flavor is always a little more robust with a cone filter than with one with a flat bottom in the 10 to 12 cup range machines, such as this one!
The brewing process on the Capresso MT 500 averages a little over six minutes. This may seem a bit on the long side of a perfect 4 minute brew, but using coarser grinds to speed things, won’t actually hurt the flavor of the brew.
The internal parts of the best coffee maker, are primarily made of stainless steel according to Capresso and the temperature is consistently around the 195Ί mark! The drip stop also works pretty well on this model unlike other machines that simply drip a little slower instead of stopping, which may result in you pulling the pot out too soon! Please note that drinking before the brewing process is completed, will make your first cup a bit stronger than the later ones!

Extra MT500 Features
The built in water filter of the Capresso MT 500 coffee maker is probably its second most important feature and what really makes it such a great and unique coffee maker! Unless the area you live in has the best tap water in the world it can substantially affect the flavor of your coffee, in a very bad way!
Capresso is the only coffeemaker brand whose products come complete with a special built in water filter! The maker claims that this filter can remove up to 85% of the chlorine found in tap water!
Another great bonus, is the special indicator light that shows you when it is time to change the filter! With previous Capresso models all you can do is count the pots you brewed till they reach 60, but not with the MT500!
Its filters however, can be a little difficult to find, but Capresso is pretty good at shipping them very quickly if you order from them!
The Capresso MT500 Plus, also features a built in timer and clock so you can have your coffee ready and waiting for you in the morning when you wake up! This function of the Capresso MT 500 will also come very handy for serving your guests coffee after dinner!

The exterior of the MT500 will look as good as new for many years! It is very easy to clean using just with a damp rag! The brushed aluminum will also hold up nicely for many years to come! The pot is extremely durable as well!
