You should make sure you add a small amount of extra water though, to make up for the amount of water that will inadvertently be lost in wetting the grounds or as steam during the brewing process!

The Auto Off feature is used to shut off the coffeemaker at a time of your choice, anywhere from 0 to 4 hours! Note: To better be able to program the coffeemaker to shut off automatically, it is highly recommended that you read the instructions included in the Instruction Manual under ‘To program the Variable Auto Off’
- The Heater Plate Control Knob allows you to control the temperature of the coffee after brewing. There are three temperature settings to choose from high, medium and low!
- The 1-4 cup setting button of the Cuisinart DCC-1200, is used when you want to make smaller amounts of coffee. Normal coffeemakers will produce a colder batch of coffee when smaller amounts are made, because their heater doesn’t have enough time to get ‘warmed up’ properly in order to heat just a small amount. What the 1-4 setting does, is basically ‘double heat’ the water, making your smaller amounts of coffee as piping hot as a full pot would be.
- The retro styled flip switch is used to turn your drip coffee machine on and off and works in tandem with the function knob!
- The clean setting will let you know when it’s time to clean your coffee maker. You should always remove calcification that has been built-up in the water reservoir, in order to extend the life of your coffeemaker!
- The Brew Pause function automatically stops the flow of coffee from the basket when he carafe is removed from the heater plate, so you can pour a cup, even while in mid-brew! However the flavor extraction rate of the coffee does vary during the brew cycle, so we recommend that you allow the brewing cycle to finish before you pour your coffee.
- The coffee brewed at the beginning of the cycle will always have a flavor profile that is very different from that at the end of the cycle! Once the brewing process is finished, you should stir it a bit before serving, in order to blend the flavors better! Be also advised that the coffee at the bottom of the carafe will be always be a bit stronger than the coffee at the top!
- The easy pour, no drip glass carafe features a specially designed ergonomic handle and brewed coffee height markings for two to twelve cups!
- The Heating Plate of the Cuisinart DCC-1200 coffee maker, is completely scratch resistant and comes with a black, nonstick coating.
- The Ready Tone of the DCC-1200 will signal the end of the brew cycle with five beeps!
